Strange “Rolling Stone” in Gunung Padang Pyramid baffles Researchers

A strange “Rolling Stone” has been discovered in Gunung Padang Pyramid in Indonesia. This mysterious object is made of an unknown material, and possesses some very unique qualities.

Gunung Padang "Rolling Stone"

The stone was discovered at the end of a “hallway” on the 5th Terrace of Gunung Padang Pyramid, about 10 meters underground. The mysterious stone looked unlike anything else previously discovered at Gunung Padang.

In the picture below, you can see the odd black stone is set in the center of another hollowed out boulder. The black stone in the center can roll around like a computer mouse, hence, the nick-name “Rolling Stone.”

Mysterious Gunung Padang Rolling Stone
So mysterious stone. Wow.
After analyzing the strange Rolling Stone, researchers decided to roll the stone 7 times to the right and 7 times to the left, at the advice of ‘community leaders.’ To their surprise, the Rolling Stone functioned as a key, giving way to yet another passageway.

Still mystified by the stone, the team decided that it merited further studies. With the help of the military, who assisted in the excavation, the Rolling Stone was brought to the surface of Gunung Padang for inspection. And, that’s when another strange thing happened.

Upon bringing it to the surface, something astonishing unfolded before their eyes. When discovered, the Rolling Stone was black in color, and measured roughly 11-12 centimeters in diameter. Within a matter of just a few minutes, the stone changed into a greyish color and expanded to over 3 times its original size.

Rolling Stone changes color and size
The strange Rolling Stone can change in color and size in a matter of minutes.
“While underground, it was just 11 centimeters, and now it measures 37 centimeters!” explained Didit Ontowirjo, a member of the excavation team.

According to Didit, this phenomenon is known as “hygroscopy,” which is the ability to change volume due to the absorption of water molecules. However, he admits that this ability is not found in stones.

“Hygroscopy is not possible because of the hard material of the rock. We cannot explain it,” Didit said.

The stone has since been brought to the lab for further studies, but its material remains unidentified.

“Now we have proof of an inner chamber in Terrace 5,” says Andi Arief, head researcher of the Gunung Padang Excavation, “but there are still many more chambers to be discovered.”

The Gunung Padang Pyramid in Indonesia has been a topic of interest, since its discovery in 2010. The controversial site has been dubbed “the oldest pyramid in the world,” with some geologists dating the megalithic structure to 20,000 years old.

Despite the significance of the Gunung Padang pyramid, not much is known about this intriguing site. For unexplained reasons, the excavations have been “paused” for the last 2 years.

  1. Stones can become many things when subjected to the right frequency. Could it be that the stone reacted to the surface frequencies after being taken out of its protected environment?

    1. That's very possible. Especially since Gunung Padang is said to be built along a belt of 'infrasound.' 11 to 37 cm is a big jump though.

  2. Research Black Goo.... It behaves like this and has an ability to make whatever touches it evil.... It might of been at the bottom of a 10 meter hole for a reason.

    1. Hmm. I try not to believe in substances being evil. Reading about it now though.

    3. I agree. I've been on the lookout for any updates, but none yet :(

  3. If it expanded, it must have broken out of the stone it was originally in. What was the "shell" made of and would it shrink basck down if it were placed where it was originally found?

    1. That's something I have been wondering too! Unfortunately, we'll never know... Not until researchers are allowed to continue excavation again.

  4. It is not unexplained why the excavations stop, there was a change of present and the 'establishment' archeologist got back in control.

    1. I've heard different stories. One thing I heard was that they made a discovery of some sort of 'high technology', and then the whole thing was paused till SBY decided what to do with it. The other thing I heard was that it stopped after the change of presidency.

    1. It's been in the news in Indonesia, but no one has translated yet. For some reason, Gunung Padang is not important enough to make international news.. :/

  8. no offence, but you can find videos and images of this dating back 2014. for example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bciE7I25VAQ. Sounds like the Danny Hilman guy is just trying to make people talk about him and his "new discovery". For reference, many vulcanologists and archaeologists think he is a fraud, and that his methods do not follow accepted standards...

    1. I am well aware that this is not a "new discovery," nor did I ever claim for it to be. I have simply noticed that no English article existed on the topic yet, so I took the liberty of translating. As for Danny Hilman, the only people that think he is a fraud are those who are too trapped in the mistaken history that we have all been taught in school that they refuse to accept anything that challenges the current "accepted history." Although, the amount of things that challenge "accepted history" are innumerable.

    2. Anyone who has been following Gunung Padang will know that this is old news. As mentioned in the article, excavations stopped in 2014.
